Manuel G. Posadas was born on the 18th October 1841 in Cuidad
de Buenos Aires in Argentina; he died on the 13th March 1897 at the
age of 55 in United Regions of Rio de la Plata, Argentina. He is an Afro-Argentine
musician, journalist and a soldier in the 19th century.

Biography
Manuel G. Posadas displayed an aptitude for the music of the country and
he studied under Professor Silveira.
He got married to another Afro-Argentine from Buenos Aires and they had
three children together; Carlos, Manuel and Luis Maria. His first two children
became devoted to music and they excelled from it.
In the year 1865, he joined the Army of the country as a volunteer to
fight in the war of Paraguay. He was assigned to be in the 2nd
battalion of the 3rd. regiment that was commanded by Colonel Jose
Maria Morales. He quickly rose to the rank of being the sergeant but because of
his ill health, he left the campaign and go back to Buenos Aires.
As a strong supporter of General MitreBartolome, he was selected to be
the captain of the National Guards. He took part in the revolution of the year
1874 and after the win against the liberal party, he continued with the
teaching of music and writing in many media houses in the city.
He was also re-enlisted to the military and he was assigned to the Sosa
Battalion that was being commanded by Colonel Morales. He participated actively
in the revolution of the year 1880 and also in the fight on the Monday 21st
June at the Puente Alsina and Corrales. He also was among the people that took
part in the 1890 revolution in the country.
As a player of the violin, he performed in many theatres in Columbus and
Opera. Manuel G. Posadas died in Buenos Aires on the 13th March 1897
at the age of 55.
