He was born in Congonhas de Sabara. Antônio Augusto de Lima was the
governor of the state of Minas Gerais and he was the man that idealized the
transfer of the state capital from Ouro Preto to the city of Belo Horizonte. In
the year 1903, Antônio Augusto de Lima became a member of the Academy of Letters
of the country and he was made the president in the year 1938.
Antônio Augusto de Lima was elected deputado federal in the yuear 1906
and he moved to the city of Rio de Janeiro, the federal capital, and it was
there that he got married to Vera Monteiro de Barros de Suckow.
As a politician of
the country, Antônio Augusto de Limadefended
the female suffrage and he was as well an ecologist.
