Ndre Mjeda was born on the 20th November 1866; he died on the
1st august 1937. He was a poet from Albania. Mjeda was influenced by
the Franciscan poet Leonardo De Martino and the Jesuit writer Anton Xanoni.

Education
From the year 1880 to the year 1887, Mjeda studied literature at the
Carthusian monastery of Porta Coeli in Valencia, Spain, rhetoric, Latin and
Italian in the Croatian at a Jesuit instituition, at the Gregorian University
in Rome and also another Gegorian college that is in Chieri, Italy. At the time
of his studies, he started writing Albanian poetry. Some of his most prominent
poems are Vaji i Bylbylit that he
wrote in the year 1887 and and Vorri i Skanderbegut.
Mjeda taught music in Cremona, Italy, at the
college of Marco Girolmano Vida from the year 1887 to the year 1891 and he
translated several religious literature. He was the man that published Jeta e
sceitit sc' Gnon Berchmans
(1888), and T' perghjamit e Zojs
Bekume (1892), a translation from Spanish, Katekizmi i Madh, and Historia
e Shejtë.
Later
he studied theology at the college in Krakow, Poland and he taught philosophy
and philology and he also worked as a librarian at the Gregorian college in
Kraljevica, where he was appointed to be a professor of logic and metaphysics.
He was expelled after the conflict between Austria-Hungary and the Vatican.
Mjeda
also worked as a member of the literacy commission in Shkoder, under the
administration of the Austro-Hungary. He worked as a deputy in the National
Assembly of the country. He left the politics of the country after the rise of
the King Zog. Then he worked as a Parish Priest in Kukel and taught the
language and literature of Albania at the Jesuit college of Shkoder till he
died.
