Radio Juba, under dominate of the new Sudanese administration has cleaned the distinctive tapes of Yousif Fataki, a popular southern singer.
Base on the several years of the civil war, the culture is heavily affected by the countries neighboring South Sudan. Many of the South Sudanese relocated to Ethiopia, Uganda and Kenya where they related with the nationals and learnt their dialects and culture. For most of those who continued in in the country, or those who went to the North to Sudan and Egypt, they greatly integrated Arabic culture.
It is also worth remarking that most of the South Sudanese kept the basic of their culture even while in their exile and diaspora. The folk culture is highly upheld and a great motive is given to recognize one’s root and language. Though, the popular dialects spoken include Arabi Juba and English, Kiswahili which is introduced into the populace to increase the country’s connections with its East African regions. Many of the music musicians from the South Sudanese use English, Kiswahili, Arabi Juba and their language or a combination of all. The renowned musicians such as Yaba Angelosi sings Afro-beat, Zouk and R&B; Dyamiq is well-known for his reggae productions; and Emmanuel Kembe who sings traditional, Afro-beat and reggae.

There are few female musicals though that South Sudan has gotten so far. Reelections BYG is a beautiful new voice rocking the Zouk floor with her initial single known as Ng’ume which refers to as Smile, it was a big hit in just a few time of its production. She has an amazing strong voice for the renowned Jazz as well as Afro-beat and Hip Hop; De-vine singing R&B and Zouk; Nyaruach who is known on the Afro-beat and pop; while Queen Zee is recognized for her rap music.
