Dahmane El Harrachi with the real name, Abderrahmane Amrani was born on
the 7th July 1926; he died on the 31st August 1980. He
was a Chaabi musician from Algeria and he is of the Chaoui Berber origin. He is
popular for the music he sang, ‘Ya Rayah’, and the music has again been made
popular by another musician, Rachid Taha.

He relocated to France in the year 1949 and he resided in Lille, before
he relocated to Marseile and finally he went to live in Paris. It was in Paris
that he became popular and played many Algerian Cafes there.
He died on the 31st August 1980 in a car crash on the highway
in Algiers, and was buried at the El Kettar Cemetary.
