In
the record of Cumbia in Mexico, it is as old as Cumbia in Colombia. In 1940s
the Colombian singers migrated to Mexico and they worked with the Mexican
orchestra director Rafael de Paz. In the 50s they recorded many and people saw
it as the first cumbia, which was recorded outside of Colombia, La Cumbia
Cienaguera. They produced other hits like Mi gallo tuerto, Caprichito and
Mochebuena. It is during this time when Cumbia began to make popular in Mexico
with Tony Camargo who is one of the first supporters of Mexican Cumbia. Cumbia
has been renowned in Mexico D.F where almost all the people dance to it and
which is known as Chilangos, where the people were born in the main region. The
dances have totally changed with time by the style and its modern control.

During
the 70s also, Aniceto Molina migrated to Mexico where he merged with the group
known as Guerroro, La Luz Roja de San Marcos and recorded many renowned
tropical cumbias music such as El gallo Mojado, El Peluquero and La Mariscada
and also in 70s Rigo Tovar also became extremely renowned with his mixture of
Cumbia, ballad and rock.
Presently
Cumbia is played in many diverse patterns and it has the slight different
depending on the particular region such as Cumbia sonidera, Cumbia andina
Mexican, Tecno-cumbia and Cumbia Nortena.
Rigo
Tovar y su Costa Azul, Grupo Bronco, Selena, Los Caminantes and Celso Pina were
the renowned Mexican Cumbia composers and interpreters.
