accepted as their music. The Ukulele became the iconic instrument of the
Hawaiian music, and it is initiated in the Cook Islands. However, when the
recreation of the dance performance, Cook Islanders takes the drums for
authenticity, the fast and slow music accompany the dancers and their bodies
must keep time to the music. The drummers in the Cook Islands are very well
trained and skilful artists, though the drums provide the background for the
dance competitions on the islands and also the competitions is only for the
drummers who can be found well.
