Rock Music of Colombia

During the late 1950s, the Mexican rock artists such as Enrique Guzman and Cesar Costa became very famous in Colombia, soon, a native rock groups like Los Speaker and the flippers gained a wide following. It beginning in 1967, native bands like Genesis (which is unrelated to the famous group genesis of a similar name) and it are fused with a native musical form (like cumbia) with rock. Marco, the voice of the Rock and Roll, was known and the promoter of the rockabilly Colombia performed with his unmistakable personal stamp-le in their own language. It is their first record that moved the sensitive listeners to enjoy the simplicity of the rock bass, guitar and percuss, that combined into whole to produce the same sound and in an atmosphere of a home recording studio, that is filled with the reel tapes and three microphones mixed in mono line (Marco Tulio Sanchez) that contributed to the Colombia rock and roll look to the past to remember the roots, dabbling of the country and rockabilly music arouse Elvis Presley, who is known today as the Elvis Colombiano awarded abroad for the ability on stage as a whole Showman and the unmistakable voice of Cronn rocker.

The rock in Colombia gained great fame during the 1980s with the arrival of the groups like Soda Stereo (Argentina), Los Prisioneros (Chile) and Hombres G (Spain). In the 90s, many inferior and heavy groups appeared in Bogota, Meellin, and Cali. Colombia has possibly has been the biggest underground, hard core, metal and punk movement of the continent, and it is known in the Latin America as the inferior corner. Aterciopelados, Kraken and Macacre are some of the most significant Colombia rock groups.

The music activity of the rock al parquet celebrated yearly in Bogota, is the largest free rock festival in Latin America, around 100 bands that play their music along 3 days and 400,00 tribes in attendance. The recent Doctor Krapula a rock group with the strong ska influences that is known for making the covers of the traditional Latin American songs; enjoy the great fame. The most famous Colombian rock band outside the country is the Monas,  winners of a billboard award and Mick Jagger’s favourite Latin rock group; apart from playing to sold out to the crowds the New York to Los Angeles, they played at SXSW festival in Austin, TX and to fifty thousand people at the Latin Grammys in Los Angeles. The Monas have played with the rage against the machine, Iggy pop the presidents of the United States of America, Bowling for soup, La Secta, Lucybell and others.

Other famous and interesting groups are Ekhymosis, a group that is led by Juanes, who started making music in the year 1988 and are known for doing the rock with a Colombian power, the hall effect who makes English pop/rock joined with Britpop powers, proper strangers antae-garde rock. The two way analog an eclectic group who influence are road movies and the soundtracks,  La Pestilencia post-hard core, Bajo Tierra, Palenke Soultribe (a traditional Colombin that rooted its music with the fused electronic beats), but possibly the most successful Indie group is Sidestepper with its union of Colombian traditional music, the electronic and the Africa songs that already appeared in Coachella Festival in the year 2006. Some of the musical groups in the death metal genre are the world well-known internal suffering, Carnivore Diprosopus, Goretrade, Mindly Rotten, Syuppuration, and Amputated Genitals. The Colombian is also the birthplace of the famous black metal band Inquisition, which is now based in Seattle, Washington. Miguel Fernando Trapezaris, the bassist of Cyprus based Epic power metal band winter’s verge is one of the Colombian offsprings.
