Chanson Music of France

Chanson Francaise is the typical pattern of French music (chanson which means song in French) and it is still very famous in France. Some of the most significant musicians include; Leo Ferre, Edith Piaf, Mireille Mathieu, Jacques Brel, Salvatore Adamo, Gilbert Becaud, Charles Aznavour, Geroges Brassens, Monique Serf (Barbara) and Dalida plus the more art-house artists such as Brigitte Fontaine. Also during the 1950s one of the more representatives of Montmartre cabaret singers was Suzanne Robert.

During the year 1970, new musicians renovated chanson Francaise (Joe Dassin, Renaud, Michel Fugain, Francis Cabrel, Alain Souchon, Jacques Higelin, and Alain Chamfort) and also in the 80s (Etienne Daho, tetes Raides) till now (Juliette, Mano Solo, Mathieu Chedid, Jacques Higelin, Jean Louis Murat, Biolat Benjamin, Daniel Darc, Mathieu Boogaerts, Vincent Delerm, Christina Goh, Renan Luce, Zaz, Benabar).

Singer-songwriter, Serge Gainsbourge started as a jazz musician in the year 1950 and covered several periods of French famous music including  rock, reggae, new wave, pop, disco and even hip hop filtered through his special sense of black humor, heavily laden with sex.
