The kusle is a zither that is performed by the Volga-Finnic Mari people of Russia. The musical instrument is performed in the lap, with the both hands of the player. The musical instrument was played on some occasions like the ritual sacrifices and also to accompany dancing. The musical instrument is shaped like a semi-circle, with 12 to 20 strings. The musical instrument is described to be analogous to the Russian gusli or the Finnish kantele.
