During
the period of the 18th century (at least) to the modern era, the
well-known theatrical patterns used, and gave rise to, music and dance. Many
popular composers and musicians had their careers launched in to the theatres,
and several popular compositions got their first airing in the stage, also, in
addition to staging of some European operas and operettas, Cuban singers
gradually brought an idea that better suited their audience. Recorded operas
and was to be the couduit for the Cuban music to reach the world. The most recorded
artists on the Cuban up to 1925 was a composer at the Alhambra, Adolfo Colombo and
his record show recorded about 350 numbers between 1906 to 1917.

The
first theatre in Havana opened in 1776, the first Cuban singer opera emerged in
1807, and the theatrical music was immensely important in the 19th
century and the first half of the 20th century; its importance only
started to decline with the change in the political and social weather in the
second part of the 20th century.
