JUNGGEUM: Korean musical instrument

The junggeum is a medium-sized bamboo transverse flute that was previously used in traditional music of Korea. Unlike the larger daegeum, the musical instrument does not have a bustling membrane. The musical instrument was used to play court music, the aristocratic, and the folk music, but has largely been discarded, being infrequently used in the modern days.
Some other flutes in the same family of musical instruments include the daegeum and sogeum; the three musical instruments are together called as samjuk, as the three principal musical flutes of the Silla period. Both of these instruments are still being used in traditional music and also in modern classical music, popular music, as well as film scores.
