The bipa is a pear-shape lute instrument. The bipa is a traditional Korean musical instrument that is related to the Chinese musical instrument called pipa, the Vietnamese musical instrument called đàn tỳ bà and the Japanese musical instrument known as biwa. Efforts to revive the musical instrument have failed because of the fact that there are no existing skilled players of the musical instrument.
In the past, there were two versions of the musical instrument, which are; the hyang-bipa and the dang-bipa. The hyang-bipa was the fabricated in Korea while dang-bipa was imported in the country during the Tang Dynasty.
