Haki Stërmilli was born in the year 1895; he died in
the year 1953. He was a writer and a journalist from Albania. His works treated mainly the problems that
are associated to the right of the people of the country that are outside the
country, republicanism, emancipation of the women of the country and feminism.
The best known work that was done by him is known as Sikur të isha djalë

Life
Stërmilli was born in Debar, in the Ottoman Empire.
Stërmilli completed his first studies in Bitola. In the year 1920 together with
Avni Rusteni, he became one of the founding fathers and the secretary of the
youth organization called Bashkimi. He is also an antimonarchist and follower
of Fan Noli he participated in the revolt that saw the fall of the monarchy
government of the country, though after the restoration in the later part of
the year 1924 he was sent out of the country in an exile. In 1930 he was
captured by the authorities of Yugoslavia and was dispossessed to Albania, and
it was there that he was sentenced to prison for his antimonarchist activities.
At the time of the World War II, he joined the National Liberation Movement of
the country and he became the head of the organization in the region of Diber.
Subsequent to the War, he was elected to be the deputy of the Albanian
parliament and also he worked as the head of National Library of the country
until he died in the year 1953.
