Ernest Koliqi was born in the year 1903 and he died in the year 1975. He was an Albanian-Italian poet, prose writer and a dramatist. He was also a literary student and a translator.

Biography
Koliqi was born in Shkodra, and it was there that he attended his first lessons in the Shkoder Jesuit College, he relocated to Italy to study in Brescia and then at the University of Padua. He became knowledgeable in the folk history of his country, Albania. He started writing pseudonyms like Hilushi, Hilush Vilza and Borizani. In the 1920s and in the 1930s, he founded the leading magazines in the country, like the Illyria magazine, and other magazines that covered geography and culture in Albania. He was the minister of education in the country at the time of the Albanian Kingdom at the time of the World War II, which was when he sent 200 teachers to open up Albanian Schools in Kosovo.
Many of the literary works he did as a writer were banned, though he possessed political links in the country and they is one of the reasons why they were banned for this very reasons of the political views he had. He was creative in prose and along with Mitrush Kutel, they are seen as the founder of contemporary prose in the country. He translated the works of Italian great poets into the language of the country; Dante Alighieri, Petrarch, Ludovico Ariosto, Torquato Tasso, Giuseppe Parini, Vincenzo Monti, and Ugo Foscolo. He brought out the unique spirituality to the literature of the country with the use of his books like Hija e Maleve, Tregtar flamujsh and Pasqyrat e Narçizit.
He died in Rome in the year 1975.
