The
Slovenia music is closely connected to the Austrian music because of its
renowned record and Alpine and littoral culture. Northern Italian and Croatian
music from the areas close to Slovenian territory also bear some resemblance to
Slovenian music. With this in the minds of many foreigners, Slovenian
traditional music refers to a type of polka that is still renowned now,
particularly among colonials and their offspring. Though, there are numerous
patterns of Slovenian traditional music beyond polka, waltz and kolo. Lender stajeris, saltin and mafrin
were the few of the folk music patterns and dances.

The
Divje flute artifact which was found in a cave near Cerkno, Slovenia, it is probably the oldest known musical
instruments ever. Its age is projected at approximately 55,000 years ago.
The
record of the current Slovenian music was back dated to 5th century,
when Christianity extent to Carantanin.
Liturgical hymns (kyries eleison)
were brought, and it became the first plainchant to make a link to the peoples’
language.
During
in the medieval period, secular music was as famous as church music and it
comprise the wandering minnesingers. At the time of the Protestant Reformation
in the 16th century, music was utilized to proselytize. Eni Psalmi, was the first Slovenian
hymnal and it was published in 1567. This year saw emerge of artists such as Jurij Slatonja and Jacobus Galuus. Italy has an important musical influence of the
year, particularly in sacred music, such as that of Antonio Tarsia (composer) of Koper
in oratorio and opera. In 1660 a commedia was performed in Lujubljana and an opera in 1700 in the
family palace of the Auerspergs.
In
the 1701, Johann Berthold von Hoffer from 1667 to 1718 was a nobleman and
amateur composer who is from Ljubljana, founded the Academia Philharmonicorum
Labacensis based on Italian models. And also the Ljubljana branch of the Roman
Academic of Arcadia was established a few years after in 1709. Apart from
Hoffer another Cathedral provost Mihael
Omerza who was also famous with his oratorios. The first main Slovenian
opera was done in 1732, ll Tamerlano by
abbate Giuseppe Clemente de Bonomi
maestro di capella, in the palace of the Carniolan vice-regent, who is the duke Francesco Antonio Sigfrid della Torre e Valassina.
During
the last half of the 18th century, the economic recession hit the
country, and music depressed in fame. At the beginning in 1768, German theatre
organizations came and became extremely renowned. The 1794 creation of the Philharmonische Gesellschaft was essential
because it was one of the first such groups in central Europe.
