Agonit Sallaj

Agonit Sallaj was born on the 14th February 1992. He is an Albanian professional footballer from Kosovo. He plays the role of a defender for his club, Biel-Bienne.

Club Career

Sallaj started his football career at Neuchâtel Xamax and was later loaned to Biel-Bienne. His loaned contract expired in June 2012, but the club had to retain him because of the financial problems of the main owner of the team, Neuchâtel Xamax.

In the summer of the year 2012, Sallaj was tried out by Portsmouth. After playing two matches for the club, a match played against Aldershot Town and Bolton Wanderers, which were friendly matches, the manager of the club, Michael Appleton say he does not want to sign the player again.

International Career

Because he was born in Kosovo, then Serbia, FR Yugoslavia, to parents who are ethnic Albanian and brought up in Switzerland, Sallaj was eligible to play for the following countries; Switzerland, Albania and Kosovo if they should have a national team. In March 2011, he responded to the call that was given to him by the coach of the U-21 national team of the country Artan Bushati for a friendly match that was played against Slovenia. 

He was also called by Josip Kuze to take part in the friendly match that was played against Argentina on the 20th June 2011. He played his first match for the country as he was brought into the game in the 67th minute of the game, though they lost the game 4-0.
