Laos
Music is controlled by the Laos; it includes the minorities of Mien, Kmhmu, and
Hmong, among many others. The most unique Laos musical instrument is called
bamboo mouth organ, which is known as khene. The instrument was supposedly
initiated by a woman who is trying to copy the calls of the garawek bird. The
woman took the original instrument to the king, and he told her that it was
fair, but he wanted more of it and she then changed the instrument and he now
replied and said; Tia nee khaen dee (which means this time it was better).
