Hip hop is a big renowned pattern of music in Kenya. Musicians mainly rap in English, the local Sheng slang and Swahili. One of the renowned genres is known as Genge, which showcased through musicians such as Nonini, Jimwat and Jua Cali. Also there is Kapuka rap, which is found with musicians like Nameless.

Also, the country boasts the following hardcore rap which is considered by rapid freestyle battlers and lyricists such as Doobiez, Bamboo and Chiwawa.

Camp Mulla, which is the alternative hip hop group has had more success than any of the Kenya musician in history. In 28 September 2012, they have won two chat awards and have been appointed for the glamour awards such as the BET awards, the MTV Europe music awards and also the MOBO Awards.
