folk music of Lithuania belongs to Baltic music branch, which is linked with
the Neolithic corded ware tradition. The territory of Lithuanian meets two
musical traditions; stringed (kankliu) and the wind instrument cultures. These
instrumental cultures were likely formed by the vocal traditions. The
Lithuanian folk music is archaic, mostly used for ritual purposes, containing
elements of paganism faith.
