In
the 90s a famous trend was so-called euro-dance music and this pattern also had
in Finnish followers, many of which however are today quite forgotten, a number
of groups also wrote their lyrics in English, but did not make it on the
international music market such as Movetron, Hausmylly and Aikakone.

Some
current pop/rock composers like Jenni Vartianinen, Maija Vikkumaa, Anssi Kela,
Anna Eriksson, Irina, Hanna Pakarinen, Chisu, Anna Puu, and Antti Tuisku and
also pop rock groups like Scandinavian Music group, PMMP and the Poets of the
fall are very famous in Finland and they all mainly sing in Finnish, which may give
to their relatively low profile internationally.
Since
the late 1990s and the early 2000s the female musicians have taken a more
visible role in the Finnish pop music scene, not only as performers but also as
songwriters. A talented singer-songwriter Chisu writing Finnish lyrics for
example, it is a good development couple of her songs, and can very well be
seen as classic beside the songs of Eppu Normaali, Tuomari Nurmio and others in
the future.
A
series of iskelma, rock and pop songs have attained a status of a classic, the
standard for the status being that many have had some connection with the song
and this is not a hit of present. Although the difference between the pop rock
and the iskelma are remarkable in social signification and is stereotypically
iskelma being the music for the tribe of greater age and countryside, rock and
pop is for youth and people living in cities, the boundaries between the famous
music kinds are in reality rather unclear, it seems to be true especially in a
small number of famous songs that are performed over again in the original way,
or it is rearranged into a new musical idioms and language.
