Kashmiri Music of Pakistan

The main language found in Pakistan’s North Areas has a wide oral history which traced back as far as thousand years ago. With the increase in tourism to Pakistan’s Northern Areas and increased local as well as international awareness of the indigenous traditional music, the Shinha traditional customs have managed to stay alive and vibrant. The dardic language is considerable Persian influences which is found in Pakistan’s Chitral area in the North West of the country. Khowar traditional music had considerable supported during the rule of the Mehtars in the last century. The traditional music in this area has remained relatively pure and unharmed by the current influences due to the relative separation of this region. The coming of many immigrants from the adjacent Nuristan region of Afghanistan and the subsequent increase the commercial activity in Chitrali bazzaars and  allowed this indigenous form of music to boom in the past few years.
