The
classical music organization include the Costa Rican National Symphony
Orchestra (formed in 1970), which was formed by the Americans Gerald Brown and
Irwin Hoffman, and the recent by the Japanese music director, Chosei Komatsu,
the country is also a home to an opera organization, one of the first
professional choirs in the Central America and the state-subsidized youth
groups that belongs to the National Symphony Orchestra.

The Universidad de
Costa Rica has a show group and also an orchestra which is besides an early
music group and has several chamber music groups. The National University,
Universidad Nacional has a resident chord quartet and a symphony orchestra that
has many successful premeire at the National Theatre in San Jose on May 10,
2007 and was formed by Dieter Lehnhoff. It also have a successful piano school that
was led by the Russian virtuoso, Alexandr Sklioutovsky, another famous groups
such as EI Café Chorale and the Sura Chmaber Chior and also the pianist Ismael
Pacheo who was the second Costa Rica Rican pianist to perform at the
prestigious Carnegie Hall in the year 2001 and also at the Musikverein in the
year 2007. Both the Universidad de Costa Rica (UCR) in San Jose and the
Universidad Nacional (UNA) in the Heredia have well-designed programmes in
music, where the students can study a bachelor’s degrees in instrumental and
vocal performing, composition, and conducting and also a doctoral degree in
Central American Arts and Letters with an emphasis in music.
The
current singers include the Mario Alfaguell, Marvin Camacho, Alejandro Cardona,
Bernal Flores, Benjamin Gutierrez, Lius Diego Herra, and Eddie Mora and so on.
