The
Gestir group was formed in 2002 and they have been playing rock festivals in
the Faroe Island, Denmark and other countries. They are signed to Tutl records
in the Faroe Islands in 2006; in the summer of 2006 the Gestir played the Atlantic
music event at NASA (Reykjavik, Iceland), the G! Festival (Gota, Faroe Islands)
and Nord atlantiske Brygge (Copenhagen, Denmark) in the year 2006 Gestir
performed a unique show at the Nordic House, Torshavn, Faroe Islands, in
celebration of their album release. In December 2006, Gestir were invited to
play at Faroese singer/songwriter Teitur’s special Christmas show at Sore Vega,
Copenhagen, Gestir’s that is most of the significant shows in the summer of
2005 were the G! Festival and at Lille Vega, Copenhagen, also Gestir won the
bi-annual Faeroese music show Prix Foroyar in the year 2003.

members of Gestir are Olavur Jakupsson (a vocal, electric and audio guitars,
synthesizers, piano), Torfinnur Jakupsson (electric and audio guitars, paino,
lyrics), Jogvan Andreas a Brunni (drums), Niels Jakup i Jogvanstovu (bass) and
Knut Haberg Eysturstein (synthesizers, Hammond, piano, Rhodes).
