Aldubaran Music Group in Faroe Island

The chamber group Aldubaran is the only professional group of its kind in the Faroe Island, it was formed in the year 1995, it has a huge impact on the recent classical scene in the Faroe Islands. The aim of Aldunaran was to perform classical music and to commission Faroese music from composers and to perform this domestically and abroad. Since its creation, the group has become a household name, especially the association with folk-singer Hanus G. Johansen and their release in 2000 album Bouquet on the label Tutl, had a board impact and still is a big seller. Although Aldubaran has released four albums on Tutl, Aldubaran was in 2004 nominated for the Nordic Council Music Prize, Aldubaran has toured extensively and in autum 2006, Aldubaran produced and played the first ever Faroes opera. The Madman’s Garden which was compose by Sunleif Rasmussen, the members of Aldubaran are Andrea Heindriksdottir (flute), Christian Andersen (bassoon), Anna Klett (Clarinet), Johan Hentze (trumpet), Pall solstein Angelika Nielsen (Viola), Olavur Jakobsen (guitar), Johannes Andreasen (piano), Samal Petersen Ossur Baek, Runi Baek (violins), Olavur Olsen (trumpet), Andras Olsen (trombone) and Berharour Wilkinson (flute/conductor).
