The
past pygmy music comprises of at most only four parts, and can be defined as an
ostinato with differences or similar to a passacaglia in that it is cyclical. In
fact it is based on the replication of periods of the equal length, and each of
the composer divides the use of different rhythmic figures specific to separate
list and songs. Its interesting case of ethnomusicology and ethnomathematics
that made the detailed surface and endless variations of not only the same time
repeated, but the same piece of music. As in some of the Balinese gamelan these
styles are based on a super-style that is never heard. The Pygmies themselves
do not learn or think of their music in this theoretical framework, but learn
the music growing up, also the pygmy patterns include liquindi, or water
drumming and instruments such as the bow harp (ieta), ngombi (harp zither) and
limbindi (a cord bow) Abram.
