The Ney-anbān is a
kind of bagpipe that is popular in the southern part of Iran, specifically
around Bushehr. The name of the musical instrument literally means ‘bag pipe’,
but more especially can mean a kind of double chantered bagpipe instrument that
is played in the southern region of Iran. The musical instrument is analogous
to the Bahrainian jirba that is played by the ethnic Iranians in the Persian
Gulf Islands.
