The MPB’s started stage from World War II to the mid-60’s and was populated by male composers like Orlando Silva, Nelson Gonclaves, Jamelao, Agostinho dos Santo, Anisio Silva, ataulfo Alves, Carlos Galhardo, Ciro Monteoro, Ismael Silva, Joa Dias, Jorge Goulart, Miltinho, Jorge Veigo and Francisco Egidio and the female composers began to mushroom like Nora Dolores Duran, Angela maria, Emilinha Borba, Marlene, Dalva de Oliveira, Maysa Matarazzo, who is the sisters of Linda Batista and Dircinha Batista among others.

MPB’s is the second stage after the split of Bossa Nova from 1959, Jovem Guarda from 1965, Tropicalismo and malandrangem both from 1967 refers to the mainstream of the Brazilian pop music. the famous MPB artist which include among several composers like Elis Regina Regina, Nara Leão, Maria Bethânia, Mônica da Silva, Simone, Chico Buarque,Caetano Veloso, Roberto Carlos, Jorge Benjor, Milton Nascimento, Gilberto Gil, João Bosco, Ivan Lins, Djavan.
