It
is also from Tarija, this music is actually more than a poem that is sung or
put to music, it came from the traditional duelos de coplas folk songs about
the duels that are sung and also danced at the festivity of the chapacos, as
people from Tarija are called. One of the dueller sings is verse and then other
must respond, which complete the song and the most cleverly in an attempt to
overwhelm their rival. This is also be accompanied by the cajas (which is the
small handled drums), violin, or guitar, or may be simply be sung. This Bolivian
music type migrates with the European tradition of the troubadours (minstrels)
who settled in the region.
