Looking
at different music in the neighbourhood in South Africa, as well as other
Portuguese colonies especially Cape Verde, Angolan music has had a little
international success. In the 1880s Angolan musician in the cities conduct test
with the popular style music worldwide, including Waltzes and Ballads music.
The first half of the Twentieth century come big bands, who release a sing both
in Portuguese and Kimbundu.

The
First artist to be known outside the Angolan music was Duo Ouro Negro, created
in 1956 after the successful fight in Portugal, couple with the toured to
Switzerland, France, Finland, Sweden, Denmark and Spain. After that comes Orquestra
os Jovens do Prenda who were most popular from the late 1960s to the early
1970s and have continued to perform and record occasionally. The big band has
two trumpets, a saxophone, four guitars and half dozen percussion instruments.
The big band played music like Kizomba (a native style based around the marimba
xylophone), using the four guitars to estimate the sound of the marimba, and
the quilapanga.
Carlos
Vieira Dias a guitarist, however, become the father of Angolan popular music,
he introduced the bands of Dikanza (scraper, ngomas (conga drums) and violas,
which became popular in 1950 in the urban places. Dias was in prisoned in
Portugal for several years.
