Gustav Ernst was born on the 23rd August 1944. He is an Austrian playwright, a novelist and a screenwriter. He is the founder and editor of two literary journals in the country; Wespennest and kolik.

He was born in the city of Vienna and it was there that he studied philosophy, history and psychology at the University of Vienna.
He is currently residing in Leopoldstadt.
