Kadri Gjata was born
in the year 1865; he died in the year 1912. He was a patriot, a writer and an
educator from Albania. He was awarded posthumously with the honor of the Nation
medal and was also given the title of Martyr of the nation.
He was born in
Libohove in the year 1865. When he was through with his secondary studies in
Janina,he went on to study law in Istanbul. He formed a patriotic organization
Unity in Janina in the year 1905. In janina he began the publishing of Albanian
journal called Zgjimi i Shqipërisë. In
the year 1910, he was able to establish Toskëria, and Albanian
organization and he also started Albanian-language school in Janina.

He was assassinated
by a group of 22 Greek agents in the night of 12th July 1912. He was
given the honor of Martyr of the country. A school in Delvine was renamed and
given his name in the 2000s as Kadri Gjatra and in the year 2003, he was given
the award posthumously with the medal honor of the nation, which is one of the
highest awards in the country.
