The government of communist of the Lithuanian SSR criticized the rock music, which was considered an immoral and corrupting cultural assault from the west.
During 1980s, the rock bands like Foje, Antis and Bix created a big impact in Lithuania. In 1987, 1988 and 1989 Lithuanian saw several big rock festivals such as Roko Marsas (rock march). Rook Marsas linked to the ideology of Sajudis.

From 2000s on, the greatest famous band in Lithuanaina is SKAMP. Happyendless, Freaks on floor, Jurga and Jazzu became internationally renowned and put Lithuanian spot on the map for quality music.
