huge number of foreign music styles have been popularized in Madagascar including
French chansons performed by musicians such as Poopy, gospel music, reggae and
pop rock performed by ensembles such as Green and AmbondronA. Jazz has also
been fame by musicians such as Nicolas Vatomanga. Malagasy hip hop spread into
the mainstream in the mid-90s and also since the skyrocketed fame through
musicians such as 18.3 and Da Hopp. The most recent ensembles like Oladad are
experimenting with the mixture of hip hop and traditional Malagasy musical
patterns and instruments.
