Pop Music of Mongolia

Outside Mongolia, there is a successful renowned music scene that center in the city of Ulan Bator.  Actually, it has the combination of different types of the famous music. This is frequently subdivided into rock, pop, hip hop and alternative (made of up heavy metal and alternative rock). The scene of the pop include boys ensembles such as Nomin Talst, Camerton and Motive, and the girl orchestras include Emotion, Kiwi, 3 ohin and Lipstick and also the solo musicians such as Serchmaa, Sarantuya, Bold, Delgermoron and the popular Ariunaa and the alternative scene ensembles like Night train, Lemons and Nisvanis, the rock –n-roll bands such as Hurd, Niciton and Kharanga and there are also some techno ensembles such as Khar Sarnai. Little of the younger Mongolian musicians are becoming gradually well- known internationally, most prominent young female singer like Nominjin sings in 8 different languages in a variety of genres and Amarkhuu Borhuu who is a star from Russian pop music.

Hip hop and rap has both achieved considerably popularity in Mongolia. In the 1990s, Mongolian youngsters make dancing groups with the extent of three to thirty members and started to contest in the national tournaments. It was the beginning of the Mongolian hip hop trends. For some of the reason, single rappers had never achieved prominence into the Mongolian hip hop scene.

Har Tas and MC Boys are the early bands and later the two groups represented the beginning of rap in Mongolia. There songs mainly focus on the social issues, philosophy and rebellious ideas. A new generation comprised of ensembles  such as Dain Ba Enkh, Lumino, Mon-Ta-Rap, 2 Huu, Erkh-Choloo, Odko, Ice Top, Quiza, Gee, URMC and B.A.T. they still spread the same message as their predecessors and it came to a soft touches in their songs that faced the strong battle between the hard core supports and it is accepted by the public.
