The
people of Mande include Maninka, Bamana and Mandinka that produced exciting
famous music scene with traditional folk music and also that of the
professional artists known as jeliw (singular is jeli, French griot), the
people of Mande all claim origin from the renowned warrior known as Sunjata
Keita who established Mande Empire. The
language of the Mande is spoken in different dialects in Mali and in some part
of the surrounding region like Burkina Faso, Ivory Coast, Guinea, Senegal, The
Gambia and Guinea-Bissau.
