Apart
from the traditional music, the western classical music and ballet do well
during the MPR. Western pop, rock genre and the mass songs are the most
renowned types of the new music in Mongolia and it is written by the new
authors in a type of folk songs.
Mongolians
are well-known for their love for music and singing. Any of the festivities in
Mongolian always turn to celebration of singing.
The
horse-headed or morin khuur is a characteristically Mongolian instrument and it
is also seen as the symbol of the country. The instrument has two cords. There
is some argument that is based on the traditional carving of the horse on the
upper end of the pegbox. Some of the researchers agree that the proof of that
instrument was originally a shamanistic instrument which is the staffs of
shamans that have a horse of the similar carved on top and which the horse was
later revealed as animal in Mongolia.
