The
history of the Cyprus rock and heavy metal music starts a few years after the
war of 1974, which is during the late 1970s; in that era it is known as the
first rock era of Cyprus. One of the initiator of the rock/metal scene in the
Cyprus is the group that is known as Kimstyle TR (TR which stand for Teenage
Revolution), this group was the first to bring and introduce the live shows of
the rock to the Island. The group’s first pop/rock single was known as the Lady
and the Parrot that was so ahead of its era for the standard of the Greece and
Cyprus, which the song were found offensive, therefore, this was stopped by the
CyBCTV and the copies of the single were burnt by the customs officials. This
laid several teenagers to begin forming groups and that brought the
competitions amongst them in the movie theatres. Kimstyle and Kim Nicolaou’s
rock and reggae show for the first of its kind broadcast by the CyBC, who later
was influenced by the group Armageddon in the mid-1980’s, with their
traditional heavy metal sound that was
considered to have taken rock music on the Island on one step further. The
longest running group was traced, they have managed to be identical to the
Cyprus metal scene throughout the years, with a quality launches and a few
visits abroad. The recent, they have moved more into the progressive side of
the metal.

In
the early 1900s, the God blood began in the local black metal scene that acted
the first in the school band, and continue with their small record label that
is known as the Throne Productions, they have parted and only some of them can
recall some of the shows they had in Cyprus with the group from Greek scene
such as Rotting Christ which is an international festival in Israel in the late
1990s. There was also a couple of active Thrash metal groups during that period
which give the great live shows like Regicide (which is supported by the
Epidemic) and then Scotoma.
