History of Music in Gabon

Gabon is one of the African countries, whose musical output is little-known in compassion with the regional giants such as the Democratic Republic of the Congo and Cameroun. The country boasts an array of the traditional patterns, as well as pop musicians such as Patience Dabany (who is now living in the United States). Dabany’s songs, though recorded in Los Angeles, have a different Gabonese element and are famous throughout Francophone Africa. Other artists include guitarists such as La Rose Mbadou, Georges Oyendze, and Sylvain Avara, and the composer Oliver N’Goma, Gabonese traditional instrument is Obala.
