In
the year 1960, the Soviet government began to support the folk art, also, the
local ethnographic groups were initiated after Leiko, a choir from Vaska that
came together in the year 1964, while a less regionally different form of the Estonia
folk music was promoted, starting with the formation of Leigarid in 1969. Also,
the 1950s and 60s, saw the publication of Herbert Tampere’s Eesti rahvabuile
viisidega (which is the Estonia folk sons with melodies). Some of the
collection of the folk songs, the first LP of the traditional music Eesti
rahvalaule ja Pillilugusid (Estonians folk songs and instrument pieces) which
was released in the year 1967. During the 80s, the series of the festivals took
place that helped to stimulate the increase of agitation for freedom of
expression which includes the 1985 conference of CIOFF, the 1986 of Viru saru
and 1989’s baltica.

1887to 1970, Artur Kapp from 1878 to 1952, Arthur lemba from 1885 to 1963, Mart
Saar from 1882 to 1963, Lepo Sumera from 1950 to 2000, Edward Tubi from 1905 to
1982 are the singers that are still alife presently.
