The
native of the peoples of the Brazilian rainforest play instruments which
include whistles, flutes, horns, drums, and rattles, most of the area’s
traditional music imitates the sounds of the Amazon rainforest. When the
Portuguese came into Brazil, the first natives they met played a collection of
reed flutes and other wind and drum instruments. The Jesuit missionaries
brought the songs which used the Tupi language with Christian lyrics, and
attempted to convert the people to Christianity and also brought Gregorian song
and the flute, bow and the clavichord.

The
earliest music in what is now Brazil must have been that of the native people
of the place; some are known about their music, since no written records exist
of this period, with the arrival of Europeans, Brazilian culture statured to
take shapes as a mixture of native musical patterns with Portuguese music and
Africa music.
