Chinese music has been known historically since the dawn of the Chinese
civilization with documents and artifacts providing evidence of a
well-established musical culture as early as the Zhou Dynasty from 112 BC to
256 BC. Today the music exists as a rich traditional heritage in one aspect
while emerging into a more current form at the same period. The music market in
China was the 22nd largest in the world in 2011 and was worth
US$82.8 million.
