The Afoxe is a type of religious music, and the part of the Candomble tradition, in the year 1949, an orchestra known as Filhos de Gandhi started playing afoxe during the carnival parades in Salvador, and their names translates as Sons of Gandhi which is associated by the black Brazilian activism with Mahatma Gandhi’s Indian independence movement. The Filhos de Gandhi in 1949 appearance was also be the revolutionary because until then the carnival parades in Saldador were meant only for the light-skinned people.
