Bombo legüero is an local
argentine musical drum made of a respected and sanctified tree trunk and
covered with preserved animal skin such as goats, cows and sheep. It is derived
from the old European military drum and uses an identical preparation of metal
rings and leather thongs and loops to tighten the head of the drum that is
normally double. The body of this musical instrument is produced of a hollow
log that has its inside chiseled and rubbed off. The drumhead of this musical
instrument is from animal skins, and the bambo’s sound is deep and dark because
the animal hair is left inside. The bamboo player can be hung to the side of
the drummer as he is playing the instrument. The player hangs one arm over the
drum to play it from above while he is as well striking the drum from the
front. He does dis with a soft-headed mallet and a stick which will strike the
wooden rim and the drumhead to a process of alternation. The bambo has the
combination of bass and drum percussion.
