Cocek is a musical genre and belly dance that appeared in the Balkans during in the early 19th century. Cocek derived from Ottoman military ensembles, which at time were dispersed all over the area, extremely all over Bulgaria, Macedonia, Serbia and Romania. That dominated to the eventual division and extends kind of culture sub-patterns in cocek. The Serbian cocek is very renowned in south Serbian and varies slightly in Bulgarian cocek which has more oriental beat.
