Janos Békessy known with the pen name, Hans Habe was born on the 12th
February 1911 in Budapest; he died on the 29th September 1977 in
Lucarno. He was a Hungarian-Austrian writer and a newspaper publisher.

He held the United States citizenship from the year 1941.
Janos Békessy wrote under the following pen name as well, Antonio Corte,
Frank Richard, Frederick Gert, John Richler, Hans Wolfgang, Alexander
Holmes and Robert Pilchowski.
Janos Békessy was born in the capital of the Kingdom of Hungary in the
Austro-Hungarian Empire. His parents were of the Jewish origin though they
converted to Christianity. The family moved to the city of Vienna after the
World War I and it was there that he published one of the first daily tabloids
of the country called Die Stunde from the year 1923 to the year 1926.
Janos Békessy was educated at the Franz-Joseph Gymnasium between the year
1921 and the year 1929. After that he began his study of Law and German
literature at Heidelberg, though he returned to the city of Vienna due to the
increasing Anti-Semitism in Germany.
