Flávio Carneiro was born in the year 1962; he is a Brazilian writer. He
moved to the city of Rio de Janeiro in the early part of 1980s and moved to
mountain city of Teresópolis in the same city in the
year 2003. He is a novelist, essayist, scriptwriter, a critic and a lecturer in
the university.

His fictional works
consists of three novels, novellas for the children of the country and for the
young people of the country and a collection of short stories for the schools
of the country.
He has won a good
number of literary prizes and awards in the country and the most recent of them
is Barco a Vapor Prize, which he won in the year 2007 for the work called A Distância das Coisas.
