Kenneth Joseph Kenafick was born on the 11th April 1904; he
died on the 26th January 1982. He is also known with his pennames
James Kennedy and Leo Conon; he is an Australian poet, author and an anti-conscription
campaigner.
Kenneth Joseph Kenafick was born at the city of Norseman in the Western
part of the country; he studied at the University of Western Australia for a
Master of Arts in the year 1932. He became a teacher and studied at the Melbourne
Teachers' College and teaching at high schools throughout Victoria.
Three volumes of his
poetry that were written under the penname James Kennedy were published from
the year 1935 to the year 1939. Kenneth
Joseph Kenafick was a member of the Victorian Teachers' Union and the
Australian Labor Party though he left to join the Maurice Blackburn in the year
1942, and there he became the secretary of the No Conscription Campaign from
the year 1943 to the year 1946. Kenneth
Joseph Kenafick retired in the year 1968 and relocated to the South Australia
and he died at the Loxton in the year 1982.
