Christopher John Holcroft was born on the 15th June 1953; he is an australian author. He is best known as the author of the Scott Morrow adventure trilogy that is made up of the books called Only The Brave Dare, Canyon, and A Rite of Passage.

Christopher John Holcroft was born in Cooma, New South Wales at the time of the Australia’s largest building project ever, known as snowy mountains Hydro-Electric scheme. He was the son of Allan and Shirley Holcroft together with his two brothers and two sisters. He he completed his education at Peakhurst High School in Sydney’s south in 1970 and worked in THE SUN newspaper as a copyboy. A year later he went back for his cadetship training as a journalist, which he completed in the year 1974 and was graded. He worked for and contributed to strings of newspaper mastheads for over 20 years, which includes The Sydney Morning Herald, The Daily Telegraph, The Australian and suburban papers and he edited the District Reporter in Camden, new south wales.   
He finished his Bachelor of Arts degree in communications, but  concetrated more in journalism and communication technology at the university of technology, Sydney, and later completed his masters degree in organisational communications at  Charles sturt University.  He joined his grandfather the New Zealand author known as M.H. Holcroft, into a career in journalism and writing and also his uncle, Anthony Holcroft a New Zealand author in the writing of children’s and adult books.  He joined the Australian army as a part time soldier in the Army Reserve as an infantryman,rised  to the level of temporary sergeant in 1974 and was commisioned as a Lieutenant in 1982 into Australian Army’s PR corps, the Australian Army Public Relations Service and he got through the ranks to become the first Corps Reserve Lieutenant Colonel in 1999.
Christopher John Holcroft graduated from the Reserve Command and Staff College of the Army of the country as a captain in the year 1987 and a major in the year 1992. He met active service in the East Timor in the year 2000 as a part of the United Nations Transitional Authority East Timor, he got posted in Iraq in the year 2006 as part of the Australian Army's Operation Catalyst that is based in Baghdad. He was handed the award of the Australian Army Active Service Medal, The Iraq Campaign Medal, Reserve Forces Decoration (RFD) and the Australian Defence Medal.
Christopher John Holcroft has been a member of the Scouts Australia as a Senior Scout, Assistant Venturer Leader and Venturer Leader and was taking of the youth of the country.  At his time as the Senior Scout and Venturer, Christopher John Holcroft gained his Queen's Scout Award and the Silver Duke of Edinburgh Award. When he became the leader of the youth, he got his Wood Badge and was handed the award of the Silver Wattle Award for meritorious service.
Christopher John Holcroft is also a justice of the Peace.
The country celebrated the centenary of scouting in the year 2008 and Christopher John Holcroft authored the 1st two novels in the Scott Morrow adventure trilogy to start the occasion; Only The Brave Dare and Canyon. He finished the trilogy with A Rite of Passage, and all the three books followed the adventures of a group of venturers and a teenager that never wanted to become a hero but who was needed by the country.
He published the first book in his Afterlife series called Finding Thomas. The second book in his Afterlife series is called One Last Concert, which was published in April of the year 2013.
His inspiration for his novels came from the real life experiences as a reporter in the newspaper houses, as a soldier and a leader of the venture.
Christopher John Holcroft is currently living in Banksia, New South Wales and it was there that he wrote his first five books. Christopher John Holcroft is married and his marriage has been blessed with three sons.
