The stabule is a national musical instrument that is found in
Latvia. The musical instrument is a woodwind musical instrument. The name of
the musical instrument apply to many woodwind musical instrument, though in
general sense, the name means a pipe that has about 4 to 8 finger holes on it.
These musical instruments are 1.5 cm to 2.5 cm in diameter and can be
approximately 20 cm to 40 cm long.
The musical instruments have fipples or
reeds. Reed versions of the musical instrument were often manufactured from the
wood or reed with the mouthpiece of the instrument also manufactured from the
reed or the wood. The fipple versions of the musical were often manufactured of
the wood, even though some regions use clay in the production of the musical
instrument. An analogous simpler version of the musical instrument that has no
finger holes can be manufactured from the willow bark. This version of the
musical instrument varies in that the ends of the instruments are plugged. The
plug is commonly meant for the tuning of the instrument, though the plug can
also be used as a slide sometimes to adjust the tone of the instrument while
playing. All bark versions of the musical instrument are often manufactured in
spring when bark is looser. Because of the natural shrinkage of the bark they
do not last for a long time.
